It’s about this time every year that you have to admit it; Christmas is truly over. The New Year is finished and there’s no mistaking it - shit just got real!
In 16 working days, we’ll already be in the second month of the year, the equivalent of November at the other end.
So, it’s time to turn the music up and nicely transcend into a well balanced jog. No need to sprint yet (as you’re certainly not fit enough!), but the time to warm up with a brisk walk, is over.
What does this entail? Well, in short, you should be asking yourself ‘what the hell am I going to achieve this year?’ This question should have been answered already, or is something you’re scribbling away at. Some quick tips if you're yet to start:
1 - Get your numbers from last year (however good or bad) and look at them; no hiding and no rounding up! Note down 10 things you’ve learnt and what you’ll do differently this year.
2 - Look at how you managed your time last year. What shocked you? What could you have done better? Write a list of 10 findings you’ll implement this year.
3 - What sold well last year and why? What didn’t, and why? What are the top 10 things you could sell more of and what 10 things should you never repeat again?
4 - What 10 ideas have you got, that you've never tried before? Based on the learnings above, but are fresh and innovative; any worth a shot?
5 - When it comes to your site, your social and your digital footprints, what 10 things did you learn and what 10 things will you put in place this year? Will they make more impact, and lead to more amplification?
So you see, (as we break into a slight sweat) if you’ve follow the above, you’ve already started to plan over 50 new ways of working for 2018. Just like that. A half hour exercise (much easier than the NY health plan!), that could transform your business.
Remember, it doesn’t need to be much more complicated than that; but you know what they say, it’s the small daily improvements that are the key to staggering long-term results.
