A Caring Service Announcement

Anyone else feeling this lurking anxiety? I’ve been looking to talk about what’s taking up all the noise within the media for a while, but didn’t want to be seen to be doing/saying the wrong thing! Should we play it down? Should we ignore? Should we deal with facts and not let emotion cloud anything? So complicated. But thought it was time to say at least something, to share and see if this community can help one another.
.
So I’m feeling the pressure, to not feel worried. I’ve spent the week creating plans and contingencies for what happens to the business and my public cafe, in case of a number of scenarios. So although I’m one who only likes to deal with facts and never wants to blow things up – you also have to be responsible and prepare, especially if you have a business. I’m telling myself, it’s okay to be slightly worried. We have two people, people, now off unwell and are self-isolating and I’m trying to ignore the sniffles and sneezes that are within my home.
.
I’ve found preparing for a time that the business might have to send everyone home, to work from their kitchen tables (with or without the kids) actually a positive experience. I feel more in control and it stops the noise of worry if we had to make the plans a reality. I’ve tried to think of the silver lining and so have created amazing lists for all the team, on some of the tasks/projects we could accomplish if we had this time out of the office with no interruptions! Have to say, if schools get sent home, this will be challenging.
.
The budget yesterday also had some good news for businesses in this odd time we are living through such as business rates retail discount will be increased from 50% to 100% for 2020-21, a temporary coronavirus business interruption loan scheme that includes £1.2bn in bank lending and overdrafts (the government will provide lenders with a guarantee of 80% on each loan) and the government will refund ( limited to two weeks per employee) Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) costs related to coronavirus for businesses employing up to 250 staff.
.
How are you all feeling? What issues will you face, are you facing and can any of this community help?
