Business Should Be A Force For Good Posted on 5th September 201924th September 2019 I so strongly believe that especially in today’s world, a business should be a force for good. Not driven by making the maximum possible profit or making the top % richer and richer, but by balancing the financial health of a business and doing the most possible good. . Don’t get me wrong, I’m acutely aware the obvious need to create a business that generates profit, pays well and is ultimately sustainable – as we can’t all run around giving things away for free or losing money! But there are ways to do better, put more good into the world and use business as a force for positive change and distribution. Our politicians seem to be highly distracted, not only now…but I actually can’t remember when it seemed that other important factors of our society, were being focused on. . Some of my favourite companies doing this brilliant balancing acts are @innocent, who always have and always will donate 10% of profits to charity @whogivesacrap (stocked in all Holly & Co loos!), who donate 50% of profits to help build toilets for those still without this basic need and @mapologyguides, who combines her personal experiences and expertise in a product that breaks down tough subjects and helps people feel heard, @mindfulchefuk, who donate a meal to disadvantaged children, for every meal bought! They have so far donated 1,000,623 meals! Or how about @keepcup who will be giving 1% of global sales revenue to charities that support the environment and biodiversity! Not profit – sales!! . I’d love to hear what companies/brands/businesses you love that are doing good? Let’s all give them a shout out of appreciation!
