Empowering women

Hello March, you crept up on us  Take a look at our beautiful new shop window March at Holly & Co is all about celebrating and empowering women. This month marks International Women’s Day on March 8th, National Women’s History month in America, and of course, Mother’s Day. 2018 also marks 100 years since women began to win the vote in the UK.

Here at Holly & Co, one of our core aims is to empower women in business, whether making, creating, or in the boardroom. We’d love nothing more than to see women at the helm of their own dreams and businesses, however big or small.

We’re here to support and champion creative mums, mumpreneurs, and mums who want to get back into work. There’s an army of incredibly talented women out there who currently don’t have access to jobs that work flexibly in their lives, so I became an ambassador to @digitalmums and their #workthatworks and #cleanupthefword campaigns, to help raise awareness of that fact, and to encourage women to become the leaders of their own destinies, and start their own businesses. I’ll be forever proud that @notonthehighstreet is a vehicle that allows people to create a work/life balance that ‘works’ within their lives and families.

March isn’t all female, though; we want to shine a light on the amazing creative men who are subverting the gender roles and taking on hobbies like #manbroidery, knitting and more. We believe it’s time to turn the way we think about gender specific jobs or industries on its head, once and for all.

This month, we’ll also be talking about our children, and why it’s important to inspire and empower them to become whoever they want to be. We’re raising the next generation of leaders, makers and creators, and it’s within our power to bring them up to be brilliant.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on all of the above, as ever, so do share them on each post. Let’s go, March! XX
