Imposter Syndrome

Did you know that up to 60% of women have thought about starting a business, but are put off due to imposter syndrome? Are you one of them?
.
Imposter syndrome is ‘the persistent inability to believe that one’s success is deserved or has been legitimately achieved as a result of one’s own efforts or skills’, and women are scientifically more susceptible to it because we produce less testosterone, aka. confidence!
.
Following the Rose Review, the government-commissioned report examining the barriers women in business face and what can be done to overcome them, which identified that over 50% of female professionals want to see more high-profile role models speaking out about their own experiences, @NatWest has formed the #OwnYourImposter panel.
.
Aiming to support women by building their confidence to start or grow their business, the panel brings together game-changing women from all different areas and brings them to the forefront of the conversation.
.
I see so many female founders here on Instagram speaking out not only about their business and story but also for all they believe in. People such as @alicegabb with her peaceful protesting, @asmakhanlondonwith her Second Daughters Fund and @fequalshq with their female-founded community and directory. I think this is so important, that women feel able to speak up and not hold back because they’re not sure if they ‘know enough’ or that people won’t think their point is valid.
.
I’ve been lucky enough to speak to so many incredible founders on my podcast @conversationsofinspiration who are brilliant role models for all stages and kinds of business! Whom ALL suffered from this syndrome!
.
Speak out here and show that we all suffer from this bloody ‘Imposter Syndrome’. Tell us how you overcome or overcome it? Because at some point, this phrase needs to be from the past and not the present!
