Practice Kindness

This week the whole team got together for a regroup and to catch our breath together, before heading into our busiest few weeks of the year!
.
I hate cliched ice breakers or mandatory activities that corporates often force up their teams, BUT, on this one occasion, I gave each person a post-it and asked them to write 4 values they think the company has or should have. And one of the best things that came up over and over again was this – kindness.
.
Something we believe in, to our core at Holly & Co, and see in so, so many small businesses we work with, is that business does not need to be the outdated, dog eat dog, every-man-for-themselves stereotype, in fact, it should be the OPPOSITE!
.
We spend most of our waking hours at work, so why on earth is it so NORMAL for your workplace to be one of competition, one-upmanship, politics, snide remarks and agendas?!
.
One of the most simple, but effective ways we practice kindness at Holly & Co is by extending the offer of a cup of tea or coffee and making it clear we are there to listen if needed. We actually deeply care, how the other is feeling. We send ‘gold stars’ via text message if someone is working at the weekend, we leave little somethings on each others desk, threats from abroad, birthday desks and just general cheer when someone is going through a personal milestone, like moving into their new home, or first day at school. Kindness is at the core of who we are as individuals and as a workplace, and for that, I am bloody proud.
.
How do you practice kindness within your business or workplace? xx
