With over 100 million active users pinning ideas and products they love each day, it’s a natural place for small businesses to grow and thrive. According to Pinterest for Business, 30% of pinners who saved a product went on to purchase it, with 40% using the platform to discover new brands and items. Here are some tips to get the most out of your Pinterest account:

  • Pin your products! Whether you’re pinning content from your website or a third party, pay attention to the caption – include your brand name, the product name and your website. This will ensure traffic always comes back to you when that pin gets reposted. Pinterest drives more referral traffic than Google+, LinkedIn and YouTube combined!

  • Get creative with boards: you can be an authority in your field and have fun at the same time. Create boards with themes that appeal to your target audience; branch into tips and tricks, or share your how-to hacks. Pin with seasons in mind, whether that’s gifting ideas at Christmas or holiday inspiration in the summer. You can even use group boards to collaborate with relevant and popular pinners to showcase your brand and products to larger networks for free.

  • Make your website Pinterest friendly: whilst promoting and showcasing your products on the platform is great, go the extra mile and add the ‘Pin It’ button to your website. This will allow people to easily pin your products and engage with you further down the line.

  • Invest in Promoted Pins: like any other social media campaign, promoted pins do exactly what they say on the tin, they promote your products to a specified audience to increase brand awareness and engagement.

  • Collaborate in the community: follow and engage with similar small businesses, people and brands. With 100 million users to meet and network with, the opportunities are endless!
