Need to Know

After you have placed your order, please use the Customer Contact Form on the Contact Us page and select ‘I need to send images to the Co for a personalised product’ option. You’ll then be able to attach your images. You’ll also be reminded on how to send these within your Order Confirmation email too. If you could please send these within 24hours of purchase so your delivery time isn’t impacted.

Please send a photo from every angle to make sure that all of their markings can be seen. Please describe which photo best depicts the expression you would like. Also describe, or send a photo of the colour you would like for the backing shield. If this is not selected, it will be black or brown.

Shields can be freestanding or wall hung.

Made through the process of needle felting using a variety of wools sourced within the UK.

Each one measures approximately 10.5cm high 8.5cm, wide and 5.5 cm deep.

You can commission a bespoke 3d portrait of your pet, to celebrate, or memorialise these valued family-members...

You can commission a bespoke 3d portrait of your pet, to celebrate, or memorialise these valued family-members.

Artist Laura Cronin, aka Bumble & Earwig, has been creating pet portraits in various forms for over 20 years. They have induced both laughter and tears and are a perfect way to acknowledge the strength of the bonds we have with our pets.

Using the photos you provide, Laura will sculpt your pet using the process of needle-felting. She will use a variety of wools, blended to mimic your pets fur and describe their unique markings. They will be signed on the reverse to show that this is a unique work of art.

Each one will be finished with hand painted glass eyes and polymer clay noses (or felted noses depending on which is most fitting). They are then mounted on a wooden backing shield in the colour of your choice.

Laura is committed to capturing all of your pets unique markings, as well as their individual personality. You will be sent photos of the finished piece for approval before dispatch, with the chance to make alterations where needed. Laura understands the importance of accuracy with these portraits, so they are not considered complete until you are happy!

I will need a selection of photos of the your chosen pet, from lots of angles showing all of their markings. Please let me know if there is a certain photo depicting the expression you would prefer me to work from. I will also need to know if you would like the shield in dark wood, or painted a custom colour. You can send an image of the colour you would like along with the photos of your pet, or even reference a colour from a commercial colour chart. I will mix a good match using high quality acrylic paint and seal this with Matte varnish.

As these portraits take many hours please allow plenty of time if this item is needed for a special occasion. I will need your approval before posting, so please check your email regularly to avoid delay. If it is needed in a hurry, please get in touch with customer services and I will confirm if a faster turn-around will be possible.
