Happy is a word I am holding onto right now. It is actually the only thing that really matters – however hard it is to get there, we have to prioritise this.
This piece from Notes to Strangers is so very important to me because it reminds me of the need to always look for that ‘light’ in all situations. It shines out brightly to me in my office (the metallic paper helps!) and is a much-needed reminder of the power of happiness.
There are so many interesting things around the psychology of giving and the process of finding happiness! And I am a total believer that giving from your soul is one of the best ways to find happiness, in fact, there’s an old Chinese proverb that reminded me of this:
If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap.
If you want happiness for a day, go fishing.
If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune.
If you want happiness for a lifetime, help someone else.
So who can you help today? It actually might not be someone else, but you might need to help yourself…? I have needed to give myself some love and happiness and it’s a struggle at times, but the only antidote I know – is to ‘give happy’ to others. I would love to know what your plan is to give.
