Now this post is more about positivity, motivation and encouragement than anything else. I am determined to make sure that I, and you, feel less anxious day by day.
So I’m sharing one of my favourite gifts to myself, the beautiful print photographer above, which was created by my beloved Basil & Ford, as it made me smile, because for many parents who have watched a certain Disney film (I think we all might be doing a great deal more of this in the next few weeks!), if I say to you, “just keep swimming”, who am I quoting? A really famous fish…?
In the movie Finding Nemo, Dory is a friendly, helpful, optimistic fish. She becomes friends with Marlin, a clownfish who has just lost his only son. Dory offers to help Marlin find Nemo (actually, she does not take “no” for an answer!) and the search is very difficult! Along the way, they face bloodthirsty, confused vegetarian sharks; bloodthirsty, but very clear-headed pelicans and dentists…!
Every time Marlin feels like giving up Dory says to him, “Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming.” the conversation goes a bit like this…
DORY: When life gets you down, you know what you got to (gotta) do?
MARLIN: I don’t want to know what you got to (gotta) do.
DORY: Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming. What do we do? We swim, swim.
MARLIN: Dory, no singing.
It may seem trivial but for me it’s a life raft – I want you to just keep swimming, my beautiful community.
