All week I’ve been talking about homeschooling; the challenges but also the opportunities it presents! I’ve been reminded that we don’t have to be maths and english experts to be the best teachers for our children and because I know this is something that SO many of you have been feeling guilty about I’m summarising my key takeaways from this week.
Yesterday Claire Russel, founder of Play Hooray, made it clear that playing is just as important to a child’s development as learning their A,B,Cs and 1,2,3s. It’s through PLAY that children at a very early age engage and interact in the world around them. It helps develop their emotional intelligence or EQ something which is going to be more highly valued than IQ in the future workforce.
And I’m also sharing my thoughts on screen time and why it’s about quality screen time, not NO screen time.
