Description

Calvin's Gold Foresters is a fusion of my love for nature, colour and my inspiration from the urban and street art of London.
This piece combines found urban texture captured from my walks around the streets of Shoreditch, London. The butterflies both contrast and merge with their setting.
I love the bold and bright colours that organically emerged from this artwork. This would make a striking addition to the home for both nature and street art lovers.
The butterfly featured is the Gold banded forester (Euphaedra neophron), found in East and Southern Africa. It's wing span is 60mm.

Need to know

This is a one of a kind archival pigment print with hand finished and hand cut and collaged three dimensional butterflies. The artwork comes ready framed in a bespoke, hand painted circular frame measuring 50cm. Signed on the back. Dimensions: 40cm

Butterflies symbolise rebirth and transformation. They have always featured heavily in my art, exploring themes of transformation and fragility in the forms of butterflies. I create small editions or one-of-a-kind pieces. I live life consciously, in appreciation for the smaller details of nature, striving to illuminate aspects of a subject that may go unnoticed. In a frenetic world, nature teaches us harmony and I am compelled to express this message through my art.
