Hi, I’m Nicola, founder of Single Variety Co. I get asked a lot– how and why jam? I’ve always loved food, worked in food, and wanted to run my own business. I just had to figure out what. It was on a holiday to Sri Lanka in 2016 where I chose jam! We were staying in a cute, little boutique hotel right on the beach, and they made their own passionfruit jam. It was delicious! I thought to myself, I could do this, and so the idea was born. Initially I made everything from home and sold at weekend farmers markets in London around my 9-5 job. Fast forwards a year and I rented my own kitchen space. A year later I then outsourced production and distribution as I grew the business remotely. Then during the pandemic our online sales exploded and my manufacturer couldn't keep up so I persuaded my husband Ross to move to Bristol and set up a jam factory with me!
