The business started when my children were babies. After looking and failing to find any suitable quality, soft-soled shoes for them in a plain style that I liked. I remembered some red leather in my studio leftover from my work as a material developer. I measured my girls’ feet and set about making some shoes on my Grandma's old Singer sewing machine. Those first little shoes turned out so well. The girls wore them everywhere and we received so many comments and enquiries into where they were from. So, realising there might be a demand, the idea for the business was born. The shoes were picked up by The Green Parent magazine, who rated them ‘the best barefoot shoes for children’. The accessories soon followed with the idea of better utilising the entire leather hides we were buying. After years working for larger fashion brands it feels good to run a small, personal and ethically conscious business that aligns with our family values.
