The Make Shed

Goudhurst, Kent

The Make Shed was established by Claire Ambrose-Gordon, developing an eclectic mix of clothing with a sustainable focus. From innovative materials made from recycled plastic bottles to ethically sourced wools – quality and longevity are at the heart of what we do. We believe you should love what you buy, and enjoy wearing it for longer. We create fashion with low environmental impact, all made at our base in Kent or through our network of local home-knitters.

The story behind the business

At the heart of our business is a belief that small scale production reduces waste. We lovingly create clothing from natural materials that inherently last longer. We use responsibly sourced linens, cottons, and wools. We also use innovative fabrics including a from recycled plastics for our bags and accessories.

We have a network of skilled home-knitters and people that work at our ‘shed’, providing training and flexible employment. Our products are carefully crafted ensuring they last and are treasured.

From fabric selection to the finest of details, for example the materials of a single button, creates the basis of our collection.

Our current collection showcases bold chunky wool knits with soft ruffle-neck blouses for a modern look. We combine practicality and wearability to create contemporary clothing with a point of difference.
