Antique Kidney-shaped dressing table with matching chair and a trio of beautiful, bevelled edge mirrors...

Antique Kidney-shaped dressing table with matching chair and a trio of beautiful, bevelled edge mirrors.

Painted in thick layers of paint (I always sand items prior to painting to ensure the paint adheres nicely.) The decoration features an antique floral botanical painting from a 17th Century female entomologist named Maria Sibyalla Merian (a Mary Anning of the moth and buuterfly world). The decoupage has been made by myself and printed in fade-resistant ink designed to last up to 100 years before any fading occurs. I have then hand-painted over the top to blend all of the components together in very thick, VERY textured layers and dribbles. The paint finish has been HEAVILY distressed, back to wood in some places and to reveal the orange undercoat. I aim to create the feel of a genuinely aged bohemian piece. The text reads, in the undercoat ‘flowers make me happy’. The chair is similarly decorated and sturdy and sound.

The original handles have been replaced with cream ceramic 'pumpkin' pulls.

Finally varnished with a floor varnish to provide a durable finish.

Need to know

This is an antique refurbished piece and though sturdy and sound, It may have life marks, dinks, knocks etc. The drawers slide smoothly. No woodworm. The insides are good and clean, no odour. The middle drawer still locks and has a secret compartment complete with original velvet cushion which can be removed. The mirrors are in amazing condition for their age, a couple of blemishes but no credits or chips and are adjustable.
