The story behind the business
Meet Alison Stockmarr
Stockmarr’s work has an ethos of storytelling and repurposing at its heart.
A materials-led artist, book and record titles are her starting point. Apertures are cut into books and record covers and ephemera collaged in layers.
Currently her work falls within seven distinct categories: ‘Face Books’, a witty take on social media; ‘Picture Books’, beautifully illustrated book art; ‘LPs’, collaged record covers and vinyl; ‘Alphabetical Encyclopaedias’, open books with pertinent double-spread subject; ‘Letters’, collaged envelopes; ‘7” Singles’, collaged vinyl records; and 'Teacups', collaged imagery of teacups.
All are made using original pre-loved paper ephemera and each piece carries her signature, playful embellishments.
She has twice been selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition - in 2018 with the ‘Face Book’ “A Stirring Book for Girls” and again in 2024 with two ‘Alphabetical Encyclopaedias’, “E is for Extinction” and “K is for Knowledge”.
She exhibits nationally and internationally.
