I’m Darryl the Mummy behind Bodkin and Roo.

Before having my two children, Roo and Pops, I was an Early Years Teacher for 15 years! As an EYFS (Reception) and Key Stage 1 teacher I know how important it is to keep little ones engaged in meaningful, hands on activities and my teaching background has given me a deep understanding of how children learn best - through creativity and play!!

During my teaching years I was ALWAYS working on developing those little hand and finger muscles because they are so super important to help children become painters, drawers and writers. When parents asked me how they could support their children at home, playdough was always my answer!

When I became a parent myself, I couldn’t wait to give Roo his first batch of sensory play dough! Watching his tiny hands squishing and squashing…sigh! I just knew I was setting him on the right path and now he just loves to draw and write!

There really is no substitute for the soft squishiness of homemade play dough but I realised that so many busy parents don’t have time to make their own and so Bodkin and Roo was born!
