"Fernweh", meaning farsickness - an ache and longing for far off places, a craving for travel. A yearning to explore off the beaten path, into the unknown.

The story behind the business
Meet Fernweh UK

It started with a chalk bag... In 2014 I was lost. Not on a mountain plateau somewhere in the Highlands but in life. I had graduated with a degree in Fashion Design from Grays School of Art the previous summer and I had no direction and no plan of what I wanted to do.

Despite this uncertainty, I had fallen in love in a new hobby, rock climbing. Several times a week I scampered up and down routes at my local climbing gym and out at local crags but missed creating. I decided to make my own chalk bag made from waxed canvas, not a fan of the mass produced polyester designs that were available. I posted a photo online & got great feedback and had several messages asking for one so I set up a little online store and Fernweh was born!

From this, Fernweh was conceived from an urge to create high quality, artisan products for the adventurers and explorers in our midst.
