Growbar began with a wild flower seed birthday card spotted by Ned Trier, founder of The Gluttonous Gardener, whilst on holiday in South Africa. The concept of a product in sustainable, recyclable packaging that could double up as a nurturing environment for seeds inspired him to research and develop the Growbar range.

Growbar launched in 2018, with 18 Growbars in three plant categories: flower, edible and heritage. The collection instantly won praise and plaudits from customers and press alike.

The Growbar range now boasts over 40 bars of carefully curated seed collections containing everything from chillies and popcorn to artist’s flowers and wildlife-friendly plants. Stockists include shops and institutions across the UK including Kew Gardens, The National Gallery, Shakespeare’s Globe and the British Library.
