Spirited jewellery, made from recycled metals and ethical gemstones.
Each piece is worked by hand by way of modern methods with ancient roots - sculpted, carved, lost wax cast, polished and hallmarked. Items are designed organically and created using explorative processes, great care and attention to detail. They evolve from an intrigue and are founded on emotional design. I find beauty in imperfection and strive to reflect this in my jewellery.
My debut 00 Smile Collection features bold and playful pieces made from 925 Silver and 18ct Gold Vermeil, which are designed to bring sentiment and joy.
I grew up in London and spent the holidays in Cornwall - I would spend hours collecting stones and searching for cowrie shells, which I used to create jewellery that I would take to my pop up stall by the beach. For as long as I can remember I have always been intrigued by jewellery - fascinated in this deep rooted human instinct to wear their talismans, how these objects give people the opportunity to express themselves and can carry hidden meaning to the wearer. My jewellery has always been my most treasured possession.
After training as a Mechanical Engineer, I went abroad to work and travel. I took with me a bag of Silver beads and a bunch of threads - gifting personalised pieces to thank people I met along the way was the start of this jewellery journey. I continued to sell beaded pieces whilst working in Solar Energy Development but then a silver lining in the pandemic gave me the opportunity to move to Cornwall. I retrained as a gardener and decided to delve into the world of metalwork and silversmithing. Largely self taught from my studio in Rock, I fell in love with designing and bringing each piece to life from start to finish.
Carving designs from wax by hand makes each piece so unique and I am so glad to have released the Smile Collection. It is both a joy to make and joy to see so many people wearing each piece. I look forward to releasing the next collection very soon.
