I remember the day my business really started. I crawled out of bed one morning at the age of 29 and said to myself, "That's it, no more working in retail, no more working for the man." I quit my job and walked off the shop floor. I borrowed £1000 from my Grandad and joined a local screen-print studio. I learned screen printing during the day and worked in bars at night, and I repeated this for a year.

Eventually, I had enough screen-printed work to get me into a course at Camberwell College of Arts. I used my student loan to further my knowledge at the screen-print studio. All of my projects for uni were screen-printed, and when I graduated at the ripe age of 33, I was a competent screen printer with private commissions ready to go.

That was the start of my business. It took me another 5 years to build up a following on Instagram. To start out, I sold my work to friends and family, at festivals and art shows, making lots of mistakes along the way.

Eventually, I made it into the galleries, and I've been working independently ever since.
