I grew up in a house full of handmade things - paintings, turned wood and sculptural pieces, and shelves filled with my dad’s ceramics. My parents’ friends were mostly artists, and although we didn’t have a lot of money, everything around us was considered and made with care. It was a home that taught me to value craft and creativity from a young age.

Some of my earliest memories are of sitting on the floor beside my mum as she cut out fabric. She was a seamstress and made most of my clothes when I was a child, as well as curtains and accessories for our home. I can still remember the trips to the local haberdashery - the rows of Laura Ashley fabrics, the trims and buttons kept in glass-fronted cabinets with dark wooden drawers.

The pottery business was attached to our house in a remote part of the Scottish Borders. We all helped out, even as children - serving customers in the converted stable that became the showroom and carefully wrapping their goods in tissue paper. That sense of making and sharing things made by hand has never left me.

Paper Thin Moon is a father-and-daughter collaboration that celebrates those roots. My dad, Peter, is a seventh-generation potter; he throws every ceramic piece by hand. I make the patchwork textiles and pressed flower artworks. Side-by-side, we create pieces that carry stories, connect generations, and inspire a slower, more thoughtful way of living.
