Rose Nisbet Ceramics
Bristol
With a family history of ceramics, my great grandmother making porcelain dolls just after the war, my grandfather making ceramic cider mugs for Coate’s cider in Somerset and my Father manufacturing kitchenware and catering equipment for restaurants. It must be because of this, I've always been drawn to the different functions of ceramics.
Naturally it has led me here, where I can’t stop making whimsical handmade ceramics for the home, crossing both functional and decorative homewares with an aim to make charming ceramics to cherish and love.
With my love of hosting and cooking, my obsession for ceramics came to me instantly. I first started making ceramics whilst I was studying Surface Design degree at University of the Arts London.
Always being drawn to bold patterns, I loved designing wallpapers on my degree course. I was able to attend an 8 week pottery evening class at the Working Mens College in North London alongside my degree, and I was inspired to put my designs onto ceramics and eventually left my wallpaper dreams behind.
