As wedding florists by trade, Claire and Stephy knew the flower industry very well. Disillusioned with the amount of waste, Claire began her own local flower farm but soon discovered that if you weren’t available at just the right moment to harvest a bloom, this too could end up wasted.
Together, Claire and Stephy set out to find a better way. They were inspired by Stephy’s Norwegian roots and that in Norway, using what’s around you is a way of life. How could they showcase the colour, intricacies and joy of the flowers they loved with as much creativity and as little waste as possible?
Stephy and Claire knew that unlike the common preconception that natural dyes are muted, they could achieve rich and vibrant shades. They began to experiment with processes to extract the natural colour from flowers, leaves, bark and seeds with beautiful results.
Naturally dyed silk ribbons for florists followed, then silk scarves and linen napkins. These are items that capture all the joy and vibrancy of nature with virtually no waste and no chemicals.
