Our limited edition, eco-print silk scarf and scrunchie kit will help you create your own unique textiles to either wear yourself, or perhaps to gift to a loved one.
Using the mesmerising eco-print technique, we will show you how to transfer the beautiful colour and shape of the humble coreopsis flowers that we grow ourselves onto 100% silk, creating a show stopping silk scarf to be cherished for years to come.
We will walk you through the entire process via our online video tutorial and detailed written instructions. Additionally, this kit offers an extra technique: you'll also learn how to bundle dye a silk scrunchie using a straightforward method. This way, you'll have both eco-printing and bundle dyeing techniques included in this kit.
We have absolutely loved designing this kit based on the two methods and can’t wait for your to have a go! Don’t forget to check out our Linen Napkin Natural Dye Kit too!
The kit provides everything* you need to make a naturally dyed silk scarf and scrunchie.
Included in the kit is:
- A pre-mordanted, hand-rolled hemmed silk scarf (approx 50 x 50cm)
- Pressed coreopsis flowers from our farm.
- Three dried dye plant materials
- PH neutral soap
- Twine
- Baton of wood
- Paper
- Printed instructions & online video.
*Please note the only things not included in the kit that you will need is a steamer pan, bowl of water and a pair of scissors.
We have made an online video tutorial to guide you through the process (as well as a printed instruction booklet too). The link to the tutorial will be sent via email after confirmation of order.
Caring for your silk scarf
When washing your silk textiles, use lukewarm water and a gentle, PH-neutral soap. Hang to dry, and then lightly press with a medium iron setting. Please be aware that any changes to the PH level of the soap may affect the colour of the napkins.
