The Modern Factory grew from a period of uncertainty, shaped by curiosity and a need to create something of my own. In my late twenties, while balancing nannying with studying for my degree, I found myself drawn to making as a way to switch off and explore something different. What began as a small creative outlet quickly became a daily practice, and over time, something far more meaningful.

As my confidence grew, so did the scale of what I was making. I began experimenting, refining techniques, and developing a style that felt true to me. Building The Modern Factory has been a gradual, hands-on process, learning through doing, making mistakes, and improving with each piece.

At its core, the business reflects a belief in taking the long way round, trusting the process, and allowing something unexpected to evolve into something real.
