What happens when your passions; antiques, typography and the written word meet? They create a love child called, The Painted Anthology and just like many odd couplings or 'throuplings' in this case, something rather special and unexpected results. This perfectly describes how my passion project became a little business all in its own right.I am an antique dealer by trade but have not always been. In a previous life, I was a teacher of Art, History and English. A few years ago my husband and I left London and the rat race for a quieter life in the English countryside and our antique business was established. We found ourselves travelling the UK and Europe in search of treasures. I began collecting unique but functional, found objects that really were quite lovely but just a little too far gone or plain and so, I began my experimenting.It all started with a galvanised garden tub and a watering can, then a couple of Victorian terracotta pots. These were crude but I was amazed that after a rather apologetic post on instagram, I received compliments and to my utter astonishment, requests for orders.The rest, as they say, is history and The Painted Anthology has gone from a little project started on my kitchen table to its own little entity, occupying much of my time and remains an absolute passion. It now has its own home in a studio in my garden where every piece is lovingly restored, reworked, painted and transformed into something rather magical. My pieces are in collections all over the world and I've been told, they are totally addictive.I hope you will enjoy owning a unique, one of a kind piece made out of passion and created with great love.
