The story behind the business
Meet Wedgie
Wedgie was born from a serendipitous meeting in Sri Lanka in 2007, where co-founders Mark Scholes and Hayley Evans first met while living on the island. Over the next decade, they married, adopted a street dog named Stevie, and were introduced to Mahendra — owner of a bespoke wooden handicraft workshop just outside Colombo.
In 2015, Wedgie officially came to life.
Working closely with Mahendra and his skilled team has allowed Wedgie to maintain exceptional production quality, ethical working practices and a genuine connection to the people behind every product.
Blending British design with pop-culture inspired character, Wedgie has grown organically from its Brighton UK base into an internationally stocked independent brand, now supplying over 200 stores worldwide alongside a strong online presence
