Ring Ring Bowls

Hand made by artisans in South Africa using old telephone wires

This weaving technique using brightly coloured telephone wires came about by the African night shift security workers who used aged old grass basket weaving techniques to decorate their security sticks with discarded telephone wire. They brought the skills back to the rural villages and passed them onto their wives and daughters who now use the same techniques to weave colourful bowls to sell. For some this gains an extra income to support their families and for some a full time job. We are proud to support these talented artisans and to keep hand made craft alive.
