Alright, Hen?
pentlands, Edinburgh
Who says you can’t start a new chapter at 50? I swapped bookbinding tools for a sewing machine, and a fresh adventure began! Alright, Hen? is about bringing a little love to the busy hens who keep homes and families ticking along.
From fabric-covered planners and organisers to thoughtful handmade home helpers, I like to combine practical purpose with pretty fabrics. Hand-embroidering adds the love, connecting me with the hen (and honorary hen) who'll call it hers.

The story behind the business
Meet Alright, Hen?
For thirteen years, I ran a bookbinding business, making custom books for individuals and wholesale clients, including the Scottish Parliament, Heriot-Watt University and Andy Murray's Cromlix Hotel. When circumstances led me to lay down my bookbinding tools, I found a happy companion in my sewing machine.
My love of books and stationery lives on in my embroidered library of fabric-covered planners and organisers, personalised with embroidery inspired by my Nana’s beautiful needlework (she’s now 105!).
‘Alright, Hen?’ is a friendly Scottish greeting I discovered after flying the coop in the Antipodes. It felt like the perfect name for a business that celebrates the ones who care for everyone else. My hand-embroidered helpers aim to bring a little organisation, fun and joy to busy homes.
Thanks for supporting my wee business, and…
