Bel Holland

Hartington, Peak District

Hello, I’m Bel!

A craftsperson, specialising in thrown ceramic stoneware vessels made on a potters wheel.

I was born and raised in the beautiful Peak District which is a constant pool of inspiration for me. From the elegant stately homes of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, to the rolling hills and rocky landscapes of the Derbyshire Dales and Dark Peak moorland. I make wheel-thrown ceramics made from a variety of stoneware clays, producing both functional and decorative objects for the home.

The story behind the business
Meet Bel Holland

After studying Fine Art in London and Manchester I wanted to pursue a creative career and turned to teaching myself a craft. I officially started Bel Holland Ceramics in 2019 in a small back garden studio.

After teaching myself how to throw on a potter's wheel I steadily grew my little business and moved into an old piggery building turned purpose built ceramic studio where I continue experiment with clay.

I love every stage of slowly crafting objects and from the throwing and trimming to the glazing and firing each piece is weeks in the making. By creating thoughtful, tactile and useful pieces for the home I hope to bring joy into our everyday rituals.

When I am away from the studio, I enjoy walking and taking in the beautiful nature and landscapes of the British Isles from which I draw so much inspiration!
