Dandy Star
hackney, London
Dandy Star strives to make you look good and your home to feel good. My ingredients are, a dash of colour, a positive message served with love to bring a smile.
My designs are about distilling what is going on around me into a single statement. Words are reflections on life and yet remain playful.
My visual identity and way of seeing the world is informed by my Art School training and the times I grew up in. I want the clothes and homeware I design to have an easy confidence.
A t-shirt cannot change the world but the people that wear them can.

Founded in 2005, the seed of an idea grew from the frustration in the early days of parenthood and desire to do something creative that could work with being a mother to 2 small children. We wanted to work with colour and bring something new to what was out there. Originally we started with the simple kids t-shirt and the word LOVE all dyed and printed by hand in a rainbow of colour options. The Cross shop in Notting Hill was our first customer and as a result many others followed. We added adult t-shirts, prints cards and home wear over the years and worked with some great people on collaborations, such as Maggie's cancer charity, Marc Jacobs kids wear and two collections with Cath Kidston. Our most recent on going collaboration is with the journalist Alyson Walsh founder of the blog That's Not My Age.
Last year we designed a kids collection for the Legacy of War Foundation to raise money for support with civilians affected by conflict throughout the world.
Dandy Star continues to bring new ideas and designs that filter through our collections. Words and images in colour combinations with a retro feel being our brand signature and trademark, Our message is strident, upbeat and sometimes questioning but always delivered with colour.
