Doppiocotto

Waterloo, london

Doppiocotto was founded in 2013 by Bora Cetin, a ceramic artist deeply passionate about his craft, dedicating long hours to shaping each piece by hand without using moulds.

Focusing on form and material, Doppiocotto produces modern, original, and finely crafted pieces. The brand explores the harmony of contrasts by adding movement to simple forms and stillness to dynamic shapes, incorporating a playful touch to bring joy to people’s everyday lives.

The story behind the business
Meet Doppiocotto

The story behind the brand name comes from the Italian word 'Doppiocotto' which means 'double-cooked', linked with the production process. The clay goes through two firing processes. After the shaping phase comes the drying and baking phase. This is called biscuit. Then the glaze is applied on it and it is fired again. This is how the finished product is reached.

He began his artistic journey in 2005 with a Bachelor degree in Ceramics and Glass in İzmir, Turkiye. Inspired by the tranquil Aegean coastlines, his early works reflected the region’s rich earthy tones and peaceful coastal colors. After gaining experience in mass production workshops, Bora decided to embrace craftsmanship.

In 2013, he moved to Istanbul and founded Doppiocotto. The city's dynamic blend of ancient and modern elements added new depth to his art. In Istanbul, he became known for his animal-headed figures and human-shaped sculptures.

In 2018, he moved to London, continuing his artistic evolution in a new cultural environment.
