Joanna Ling Ceramics
London
Joanna Ling is a London based ceramicist designing and making from her garden studio
In a world of mass production, Joanna feels it important to cherish the singular which is why every piece she creates is unique, considered and handmade.
She particularly likes to include elements in her work that reflect something about the person they are for or the setting they will be in.
Sustainability is key to Joanna's process, including raw glazing her work with brush on glazes and recycling materials as much as possible.
Proudly independent
A few favourite PIECEs
After working in the art world for over thirty years, where she was surrounded by beautiful objects on a daily basis, Joanna had a craving to create her own work. She had always been drawn to ceramics so it felt only natural to choose clay as her medium.
As a child who grew up in the countryside, the fields and woods of England deeply imbue her work - be it in the forms her pieces take or the decorative elements she uses.
Her designs tend towards minimalism and therefore look at home in most interiors. Joanna ran the Cecil Beaton archive at Sotheby’s for many years and the photographer’s sense of style and designer’s eye have been a great inspiration for her ceramics.
