Over the course of my creative journey, I have worked in a variety of different material and seemingly done lots of different things. Looking back now however, I can see that the core of my work has remained remarkably consistent. Throughout my career, I’ve taken flat materials - sheet metal, fabric, or paper - and transformed them into three-dimensional forms. I have always added surface pattern and explored the effect of this pattern on the final creation.

In 1999 I studied for a BA Hons in Applied Arts and later undertook a pattern-cutting and garment manufacture course, which further deepened my understanding of shape and form.

My pop-up cards embody all of the skills that I have developed. Inspired by the natural world, I transform flat paper into three-dimensional animals and add stylised surface pattern to enhances the characters. Each creation is a mini sculpture and I hope that the joy I get form making it will carry to the joy that the recipient gets from receiving my creations.
