Noord began with a simple idea, to turn wax into sculptural objects for everyday life, with form, texture and scent considered as one.
We work exclusively with soy wax, developing each design through proportion, texture, colour and scent. Fragrance is considered as part of the composition, adding another sensory layer to the piece.
Lighting a candle introduces another expression. As the wax warms, the silhouette shifts and the object gradually takes on a new form. It can remain intact or be transformed through use; both are equally considered.

Meet Noord Candles
After graduating in civil engineering and moving from Spain to Glasgow, Alba founded Noord in 2020, during a period of slowing down that opened the door to a different kind of creativity. It began at a kitchen worktop as an exploration of material, shape and design, translating an engineering eye for proportion into something more tactile and instinctive.
Wax became the starting point: a material to shape, repeat and transform, allowing familiar forms to be reinterpreted as objects for the home.
Today, from our Glasgow studio, every candle is still made by hand. Each piece is poured, finished and checked individually. Subtle variations in texture, colour and surface are a natural result of the material and the way we work. Rather than removing them, we embrace them as part of what makes each piece unique.
Noord is shaped by Alba’s Galician roots, her life in Scotland and an appreciation for Nordic simplicity.
