We’re Richard and Sargon, and Recycled Wax is our small, independent candle company built around a simple idea: candle wax is a useful material, so why throw it away?

From our workshop in Lancashire, we collect used and unwanted candles from churches, hotels, restaurants, businesses and people across the UK. We sort and process the wax before blending it with carefully selected virgin waxes to make our candles, with our current range starting at 50% recycled wax.

Everything is made by us in small batches, from our everyday glassware and sculptural candles to seasonal pieces and one-off runs. Alongside making candles, we run our own recycling scheme so that individuals and organisations can send their old candle wax directly to us, helping keep a useful material in circulation for longer.

We previously founded The Recycled Candle Company in Devon, where we spent more than a decade developing candle wax recycling in the UK. What began as a small idea grew into tonnes of wax being collected from churches, hotels, other candle makers and the public, two shops of our own, and a community of independent stockists around the country.

We sold the company in 2023 and, around 18 months later, its new owners decided to close it. We weren’t quite ready to see candle recycling disappear with it.

So we started again.

Recycled Wax takes everything we learned the first time around and gives us the opportunity to do things a little differently. We’re rebuilding our recycling network, experimenting with materials and processes, and making products that bring together our love of sustainability, design and making.

We got married in December 2024, and Recycled Wax has become the next part of our story together. It’s a smaller operation these days, which means we get to be involved in everything, from sorting boxes of old candles and processing wax to pouring new ones and packing the order that arrives at your door.
