Sanna was born and raised in Sweden before moving to London two decades ago after completely falling in love with the city.

She works mainly with watercolours and gouache but also on occasion with acrylics and mixed media such as paper and magazine cuttings. Most of her designs are in a smaller scale with intricate details. Her creations are characteristically colourful, fun and light-hearted. Details taken from everyday life and creature comforts are recurring themes, such as in her series of condiments and drinks and she practices only freehand, “old-school”, sketching and painting.

Typically nostalgic, a big source of inspiration for Sanna is hand-painted children’s books, busy with details, comics and die-cut paper scraps - the older the better. Attractive colour combinations or patterns often spark ideas, as do homely interiors. Other illustrators and artists inspire her more than anything.

She endeavours to be as environmentally friendly as possible in every aspect of what she does, from the materials used when sketching and painting to choosing wrapping materials when shipping. Her cards and art prints are printed on high end quality, delicately textured forest friendly paper, as she hopes her cards are ones to keep – to frame, reuse, stick on the fridge or to cut out and use in a collage.
