Show Pony

St-leonards-on-sea, hastings

Show Pony is the pseudonym of artist and sign-maker Meg Tait. Inspired by a long-term fascination with words, fonts, fairgrounds (and a touch of kitsch), Show Pony creates illuminated artworks & fairground-inspired signs, often embellished with gold and fitted with light bulbs. Alongside these are typographic prints, and painted cut-outs featuring icons of popular-culture.

The story behind the business
Meet Show pony

For as long as I can remember, I've loved lettering and signage, so when I got married in 2015 the obvious thing for me to make was a huge 'Fabulous' sign with lightbulbs. And it sparked something in me!

I pretty much dropped what I was doing at the time and launched Show Pony, hand-making custom and entirely bespoke signs for individuals, events and galleries and I absolutely love it! I've since created pieces for ITV, Norman Cook, Guilty-Pleasures and for adverts both online and in print.

I work between two studios in St-Leonards-on-Sea and Hastings, mostly at bizarre hours (I have babies), and often fuelled by a lot of coffee (I have babies!). I like to work with empowering and positive words; it's uplifting, and I believe in the positive impact it has to see them every day.
