Having specialised in painting throughout university, Tally didn’t fully explore sculpture until after graduation. In early 2023, a ceramics class rekindled her connection to clay - a material she had always been drawn to but never pursued seriously.

From then on, Tally began to create ceramic sculptures and animals and it was during this time she sculpted her first slug. The public response was immediate and polarising: curiosity, delight, discomfort. She found that these creatures, so often repulsive to some, also struck an emotional and aesthetic chord.

The sculptures became collectible, conversation-starting pieces. “If I’m selling them,” she thought, “then I’m a slug dealer.”

Obsessed with animals, obsessed with London, and compelled by our relationship to nature, her work continues to grow in its depth and reach. Whether through clay or paint, she is always making. Always bringing the outside in.
