We are Emma & Sarah and we design, make and print traditional felt pennants which celebrate people, places, pop culture and positivity!
The Pennant People is inspired by the traditional American felt pennants that historically celebrated US colleges and sports teams. We are bringing that tradition into the present by creating modern designs celebrating, female empowerment, small business owners, our beautiful National Parks, 80s movies, coffee and cats, to name but a few!
We design, hand cut, sew and print all parts of our pennants in-house, and love creating unique pieces that act as a keepsake of a favourite place or shout out a positive motto. Our pennants are made to make you smile, make you nostalgic, and just look plain cool in your space!

Emma is a successful artist having previously been a merchandising manager/designer at L’Oreal in London, and Sarah has lived a work/travel life in Australia before settling in Dorset and running her own family printing business.
The shop began through our shared loves of hiking, interior design and flea markets, and our wanting a joint creative project. After many lockdown hiking brainstorms, The Pennant People was born early 2021. Our two families have hiked far and wide, but whether it was our local Jurassic Coast, the Yorkshire Moors, or further afield like the Dolomites & Canada, inspired by a vintage pennant, we thought it would be so nice to make mementos of those adventures and design some modern day flags.
We pride in our pennants being hand cut and sewn with high quality felt to the standard of an heirloom product, so the Snowdonia flag you buy to remember that family holiday in 2024 can be passed on to the next generation. Like Converse or Coca Cola, pennants are a design classic, that also hold more meaning with time.
