The Tsubaki

Surrey

Founded in the Surrey countryside in 2017, The Tsubaki creates handcrafted felt flowers inspired by the quiet beauty of nature. Each petal is carefully shaped by hand, celebrating the colours, textures and changing seasons of the natural world.

Made to last, our blooms bring a gentle touch of nature into everyday spaces and meaningful moments. More than decoration, each piece is an invitation to pause, breathe and reconnect with what makes you feel alive.

The story behind the business
Meet The Tsubaki

My story began in Hiroshima, Japan, where I grew up among rice fields, mountains and wildflowers. I remember gathering little blooms and making flower crowns. Years later, living in the Surrey countryside, I wanted to hold on to that feeling of wonder and bring nature into everyday life.

Fresh flowers are beautiful, but their time is brief. With felt, I found a way to capture something of their character and let it stay: the curve of a petal, the softness of a colour, the individuality of each bloom.

I founded The Tsubaki in 2017, choosing a name that means camellia and speaks to love and passion. Each design is made by hand, with patience and care for the small details that bring a flower to life.

I hope my flowers do more than decorate a room; I hope they invite you to notice beauty, make space for yourself, and rediscover joy in the everyday.
