This beautiful serving board will bring a unique piece of artistic beauty to your home. The artichoke design is handpainted by the artist (that's me!) to create a truly individual piece of art for your kitchen. It's a gorgeous, decorative addition to any home and would make a truly stunning gift for someone special to you.

I source my boards from vintage sellers, seeking out beautiful pieces that combine wonderful, rustic texture with style and form. For each board I then get a feel for what design will work best on the space to really create something wonderful. For this particular style of board, it was an artichoke.

As the boards I use are unique, it means that the actual board you receive will also be unique. It will not be the exact board you see in the images here, rather one of a similar shape and size, painted with a design that will also have its own unique qualities. It will all look very like the images, but will not be exactly the same. Please be reassured however that it will be just as beautiful - and will have its own unique character.

You can see examples of the kinds of boards I use in the pictures.

Need to know

As this is a handpainted piece, it is primarily a decorative item. It's more a piece of art than an everyday kitchen utensil. Using it as a chopping board or other heavy kitchen use on the painted side risks the design being damaged.

The design is painted using acrylic paints and then sealed using an acrylic sealer. It can be wiped clean using a soft, damp cloth.

I offer this board in two sizes, large and small.

The large boards are sourced from vintage fairs and are approximately 34cm x 53cm in size (W x H, including handle), although this will vary according to exact boards I source. The exact size and shape of your board at this size will vary from the ones in the pictures (but it'll be a lovely board!)

The small boards are not vintage reclaimed, but are lovely acacia wood boards with great colour and tone of wood. These boards are 18cm x 38cm, including the handle.

Alex Ebdon in his studio painting a wooden board

Alex Ebdon

Hi, I’m Alex and I’m an artist. I handpaint beautiful designs onto vintage and unique wooden boards to create one-of-a-kind pieces that bring a blast of colour and artistry to any home.

I love the colours and forms that we find in our gardens – vegetables, fruit and flowers – so these form a big part of the inspiration for the pieces I create.

Perfect for serving at special occasions or simply to have in your kitchen as a unique piece of art, every board is handpainted by myself with a design I feel matches the size, shape and feel of the wood.

I hope you like them!
