These wonderful circus animals evoke a nostalgia for toys of the past.
Made using Victorian-style images and old wooden draughts pieces, Meccano wheels and fixings to give an authentic vintage look. Each one is cut, painted and assembled by hand for a rustic, scratch-built appearance.
Due to the reclaimed nature of the materials, wheel colours and fixings may vary slightly from those shown.
Large 25cm x 30cm - this size has vintage metal Meccano wheels which may be white/red, red/gold or black/red and in varying states of age and wear.
Small 17cm x 21cm - these wheels are made from vintage wooden draughts pieces on recycled room diffuser reed axles, and may be black red or natural wood.
Please Note: These products are made from reclaimed materials that may be rusty, worn or perishing. This is part of the charm of the piece and may change slightly over time with the natural ageing of the materials.
These elephants are collectable, decorative pieces and are not suitable as toys.

Hi, I'm Karen and I'm the sole pair of hands behind Kettle of Fish Designs.
My work has a distinctive style - it's made for homes which have a personality that develops over time and doesn't necessarily follow trends. Many of the materials I use are recycled, reclaimed, repurposed or upcycled and this enhances the distinctive character that you only get from handmade.
I combine vintage imagery with a rustic aesthetic, so my pieces really suit environments that combine inherited pieces, quirky collections and secondhand finds.
