The farmhouse broom is ideal for your floors – wood (won’t scratch!), tile, lino, vinyl, cork, concrete… basically, if it’s not a carpet then this broom works perfectly. Mine gets the most use in my kitchen – I’m a very messy cook! The sweep is not too hard, not too soft, and it has wispy ends that are ideal for catching dust. It looks beautiful just hanging on the wall, too.

Brooms are also used in wedding ceremonies for ‘jumping the broom’ or given as a housewarming gift to symbolise a new start.

Made from broomcorn, beech, ash or oak wood, nylon, cork hanging strap.

Broomcorn is a natural fibre, a type of sorghum. The wooden handle is hand painted by me with an eco-friendly paint.

Need to know

Approx. 140-150cm long, 30-35cm wide. These are completely handmade, so please expect natural variations - the broom you receive may differ slightly to the one pictured.

Store hanging or leant against a wall with the fibre pointing upwards.

Rosa Harradine - broom and brush maker in her studio

Rosa Harradine

Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire

Hello, I’m Rosa and I’m a brush and broom maker. I aim to make pieces that are beautiful as well as useful and I love to experiment with bright colours and bold designs.

I use natural, sustainable materials including arenga, tampico and broomcorn fibres, as well as hemp thread and wood grown in my own small woodland.

My brushes and brooms are a joy to hold, to use and to admire, and I hope they bring pleasure to the daily routines within your home.
