Rosa Harradine with some unfinished brooms

Rosa Harradine

Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire

Hello, I’m Rosa and I’m a brush and broom maker. I aim to make pieces that are beautiful as well as useful and I love to experiment with bright colours and bold designs.

I use natural, sustainable materials including arenga, tampico and broomcorn fibres, as well as hemp thread and wood grown in my own small woodland.

My brushes and brooms are a joy to hold, to use and to admire, and I hope they bring pleasure to the daily routines within your home.

The story behind the business
Meet Rosa Harradine

I’ve always loved making things and came to broom and brush making via basketry, spoon carving and bowl turning! My brushes quickly became popular online and I recently left my part-time job to focus my full attention on the business.

I create in my workshop at the end of my garden in Carmarthenshire. I own a small patch of land where I harvest wood for broom handles, and my long-term goal is to grow my own fibre for making brooms and brushes, as well as plants for natural dyes. I strive to leave a small impact on the earth and this would be the ultimate in my quest for sustainability.

I was chosen as a TOAST New Maker 2022 by the fashion and homewares brand who selected five makers demonstrating excellence in skill, originality and craftsmanship. My work has been featured in publications such as House & Garden and the Sunday Times Style.
