'Jackie the Jackdaw' linocut original print...

'Jackie the Jackdaw' linocut original print

Inspired by wild swimming at Poolbridge Farm near York. Jackie is the resident rescue Jackdaw. A beautiful and super curious (and super cheeky) bird who loves nothing more than stealing earrings, coveting necklaces and even hearing aids and basically nicking off with all things shiny! You'll often find her on someones shoulder, or pecking at their toes. This print was created from my drawings done over the Summer at the wonderful Poolbridge wild swimming lakes - at least when Jackie wasn't trying to steal my pen or peck my toes!

10% of the sales from this print are going to Surfers Against Sewage and their important work to protect our rivers and seas against pollution and make them safe places for us to swim in and enjoy.

This print has been created by me using hand carving tools on natural linoleum. Then printed by hand using rich black eco-friendly professional printing inks onto white or light grey papers.

Each one is printed by hand, by me, in my Yorkshire studio. Because all my prints are printed by hand this makes every single one of them a unique reproduction, and subtle variations will occur from print to print in detail and colour. Which is the whole beauty of the process and creation of handmade prints - no two prints are ever exactly the same! You get something individual and unique.

My prints are created in limited editions, so each print is also hand titled, numbered and signed by me in pencil. Professional black printmakers ink

Atelier Susan Bradley

York, Yorkshire

Susan creates original and innovative work with a distinctive graphic quality. Her art is created by hand printmaking - using letterpress, lino cut and mono printing techniques. Her fascination with these handmade analogue techniques and with 'slow art' drives her creative output. She loves how each piece she hand makes is absolutely unique. How each piece is made with care and attention, and how creating by hand produces what might seem like 'imperfections' in our perfect digital world (finger prints, different weights of ink and the like ) yet are actually what creates their beauty.

She combines a simple, graphic style for which she in known with either striking monochrome or rich metallics.

Her inspiration comes from inspirational poems, song lyrics, wild swimming, contemporary culture and ancient wisdoms, folklore, protest art and feminisim.
