Incorporating happy memories and silly stories sent in from friends and family to commemorate a 40th year on the planet.
The memory quilt comes out as a conversation piece at sleepovers, camping trips, and cozy family nights on the sofa. It's full of so much love from all of our friends and family.
The date the quilt was given as a gift.
We asked all friends and family members to send a message or memory to incorporate with the photos.
Kids drawings are always a beautiful addition to these. We also asked the kids to write something they loved about their Daddy.
For this quilt we used clothing from our dear Granny's wardrobe. It smells like her still and feels like a warm soft hug from her.
For this back we chose a song lyric we love, the quilt was a 40th birthday present so this one says "May you stay forever young"
This quilt incorporates drawings from when the kids were going through a serious Star Wars phase.
A couple photos interspersed with the soft floral fabrics made this quilt a really special one. Sometimes, less is more.
Use those garments that may have gone to a charity shop and remember the person each time you snuggle on the sofa.
The back design here incorporated little messages so as to remember them forever.
A custom back design from a quote
If you have handwritten notes I can turn them into a really beautiful fabric square. Here we used the soft fabric of a chef's apron to make up the majority of the quilt, my heart broke as I sewed it.

The memory quilt makes a very special gift when you can't find the perfect gift. I have made these for 40th birthday gifts, new babies, and thoughtful presents when a family member has died.

Made from 35 squares of memories, you can choose to have quotes, childrens drawings, or photographs. You can send me old clothing. We will work together to weave memories into a beautiful finished quilt to keep in your family forever.

The back of the quilt will be either a printed design, plain fabric or even a quote of your choice with a date to signify the special moment.

The finished quilt will measure approx 90cm x 131cm.
It will be handmade and I will send it via a tracked courier.

Please allow at least 4-5 weeks turnaround time.

These are bespoke, made-to-order quilts which I will make alongside your brief.

FAQs:
+ Do I have to send you in lots of patches of material? No, there is an option to send me clothes to incorporate into the quilt, or fabric that has a meaning to you. However, this isn't essential. There will be 35 squares altogether which can be made up of either your own donations (I will give you an address where to post the fabrics) or printed squares which I will design for you.
+Do I send you photos and quotes? (How many?) Once you have purchased, I will ask you to send me any quotes, drawings, handwritten notes, or photos you'd like incorporating into the squares. No need for a scanner; kids drawings or handwriting can just be photographed with a smartphone as long as you do it in nice natural light. All of this I will ask you to send via email. I will work my magic to turn them into beautiful miniature artworks. I will create up to 35 different squares, and keep you updated on the progress with sneak peeks of the finished product. Each quilt is unique and based on the brief, and what you send, I may ask for more information or memories based on one thing or another that I think will enrich the story of the quilt.
+What is the difference between a standard and custom back? You can choose to have either a plain fabric backing (I will choose a colour to compliment the overall design or you can let me know if you are matching to a specific room) or there is an option for me to create a custom design for the back as well - perhaps a large quote, a date, or a message - in the past we have done song lyrics, the date the quilt was gifted, or an assortment of miniature illustrations across the fabric.
