Fine Cell Work
London
Fine Cell Work is a charity & social enterprise committed to the rehabilitation of prisoners and prison leavers.
Our aim is to support prisoners and prison leavers to finish their sentences with skills, money earned & saved, and the self-belief to rebuild meaningful, independent, crime-free lives. We do this by teaching them soft work skills, and by training and paying them to produce exquisite needlework, create beautiful cushions & gifts for sale.
Fine Cell Work's intricately-stitched products have been created in collaboration with some of the country’s leading contemporary designers, with the majority stitched by hand in UK prisons and in our post-release workshop in Battersea, London.
Proudly independent

Founded in 1997 by Lady Anne Tree, Fine Cell Work has since grown into an extraordinary creative community of stitchers, volunteers, designers, staff, trustees, patrons, and funders.
To date, we have worked with over 8,500 people in prison, providing paid, professional, high-quality craft opportunities, and offering them hope for a different future.
With Patrons and Trustees including designers Cath Kidston-Padgham, Kit Kemp and Kaffe Fassett, we've also collaborated with world-renowned artists like Ai Wei Wei & Wolfgang Tillmans, and stitchers' work has been exhibited in cultural institutions and galleries including the V&A & Sotheby's.
